Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and COVID-19 are still spreading in Idaho – Both are respiratory illnesses, so if you or a loved one are experiencing a cough or other respiratory symptoms, please contact your healthcare provider. It’s bat season – Bats are great for community as they eat insects like mosquitoes! However, bats may carry diseases like rabies. If you have questions about rabies or someone in your household comes into contact with a bat/suspected rabid animal, please contact us at (208)415-5235. It is also important to protect your pet by keeping them up to date on their rabies vaccinations.
It’s tick season – Northern Idaho is home to a variety of ticks, which can carry and transmit diseases. For more information about ticks, including images for identification and tips for preventing and getting rid of ticks, please see this guide from the University of Idaho.
The fair is coming! – The North Idaho State Fair is coming up on August 16-25. There will be many fun things to do, delicious food to eat, and cool animals to see. Make sure to wash your hands frequently, especially after touching animals and before you eat.
