Balance for life.

The COVID-19 pandemic has created unique challenges for everyone. We want to know how you are doing! Please let us know what you feel could be done now and in the future to better support you, and the community at large, during times such as those we have been experiencing by Filling out this brief survey. Thank you!

Fit and Fall Proof™ is a FREE exercise program designed to strengthen older adults, so they fall less. Classes target individuals 65 years and older but are open to all ages. The program provides seniors with moderate-intensity exercises taught by trained volunteers in a variety of locations throughout the five northern counties. These classes focus on strength, flexibility, mobility and balance and not only provide functional fitness, but offer a social aspect as well.

Fit and Fall Proof™ is changing lives!

Results for attendees who participated in the pre- and post- Timed Up and Go test demonstrate great improvement in mobility after participating for 10 weeks. New participants show the greatest improvement in mobility. Classes are offered in Kootenai, Benewah, Boundary, Shoshone and Bonner Counties.

1st Annual Pedometer Walking Challenge

Members of Fit and Fall Proof classes throughout the Panhandle Health District demonstrated incredible willpower and tenacity from November 30, 2020 to  March 28, 2021 by walking a combined 20,944,477 steps in the 1st Annual Pedometer Walking Challenge. Using the fact that 1 mile = 2000 to 2500 steps, depending on stride length, the calculated miles walked in those 4 months would fall somewhere between 8,378 and 10,472! Join our next walking challenge by contacting Gary (contact information listed above).

We would walk 10,000 miles

And we would walk 10,000 more

Just to prove to folks that we can walk

Those miles…and so much more!
