Panhandle Health District is committed to tackling childhood obesity with the Parents Leading Active Youth (PLAY) program. The PLAY Program will empower parents to serve as positive role models, leading their children in healthy habits impacting a lifetime of positive physical and mental well-being. PLAY is a 12-week program consisting of two classes per week, one nutrition class led by a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and one physical activity class led by a physical activity educator. Activities vary with each season.
Requirements to Participate:
Commit to 12-week program. Includes two classes per week, one nutrition and one physical activity class.
At least one parent or caregiver must participate with their child(ren). We encourage the entire family to attend together.
For children ages 6-11
For children with a body mass index (BMI) of 85% or higher. If the child doesn’t fall within the BMI requirement category, but you feel they could benefit from participating in the PLAY program, please contact us.
Cost: $300 (discounted rates and vouchers available to those who qualify financially)
